    Afternoon all.

    There was a thread back on the old forum with some external links and it was about using a single mic positioned just above the bass drum rim to provide a basic feed into a PA rather than close-micing snare/toms. I want to try doing this but can’t remember what sort of mic is used – can anyone point me at some relevant info?

    Thanks, but I’m talking about live not studio so need to think about localising the pick-up. I’ve found some stuff on placement (over and behind right shoulder appears common) and seemingly people tend to use whatever dynamic/condenser mic they have to hand, but I’d welcome some first-hand opinion based on experience.
