    As per this month’s VFTDS…

    Ode to The Drum Shop

    … I’d love to hear people’s thoughts on Nick Mason. I love the post-Syd era of Floyd albums at the moment – Meddle and Observed By Clouds albums. His playing is very spirited, especially in this vid of the band at Pompeii!!

    I love Nick Mason on the Pompeii stuff. I have this on DVD and it’s a great example of how his playing was a lot more involved and inventive back in the day. Latter-day Floyd albums would never put forward the case for him being a showy player, but that’s never what he was about. That said, his playing was always perfect for Floyd’s music and their final album was for me the best thing since The Wall.

    Yep, had the More soundtrack and obscured by Clouds on in the car this week – some of his best playing on those!
